Anika’s teeth are starting to grow already. She has two teeth sa baba then four growing in the upper portion of her gums. She sometimes looks like a pretty baby vampire because when she smiles you can only see the two outer upper teeth growing. Haha! It looks so cute!
With this, I am now conscious on how to take care of her teeth. Not to brag (pero ganun din yun) but I have a good set of teeth even if I didn’t go through the whole braces phase. Yes, I wore retainers before but only because it was the in thing in CSA that time. Some of my friends are asking if I wore braces during my childhood days because nice daw ang alignment ng teeth ko. No. My secret is that my mom took me regularly to the dentist when I was young. Plus I brush my teeth when I’m sad or stressed. Weird diba? I dunno pero I find comfort whenever I brush my teeth. It yielded positive results naman. =)
Back to Anika, I want her to start early in dental hygiene. Before she turned one, I gave her this toothbrush from Nuby that acted as a pacifier as well. I’ll blog about that later. Now that she has a lot of teeth growing, I am so happy that Firefly sent over some toothbrushes for Anika to try.
I discovered Firefly baby toothbrush in Mom Center Philippines. I swear, you can learn a lot about parenting and things your babies need at Mom Center. Very helpful talaga. Anyways, they sent me these two cute toothbrushes:
One of the toothbrushes is a Firefly Step 1 Light Up Toothbrush that is great for babies aged 4 to 24 months! You just have to press the button…
..and then it blinks for one minute! How cool is that?! Dentists daw kasi recommends children to brush their upper teeth for one minute then the lower teeth for another minute. When they use Firefly toothbrushes, madali nang sumunod di ba? It teaches them to brush their teeth for a minute. Anika is so aliw with the blinking lights =) She doesn’t make arte when she brushes her teeth. The handle naman is specifically made to give them a better grip and the bristle are soft enough for sensitive gums. Anika and I love it!
The second toothbrush they sent was a Hello Kitty Travel Kit toothbrush. Anika will be using this when she’s older na during our travels.
It’s a suction cup toothbrush with cap.
Our babies need to be taught good dental hygiene and for me, it is best if we start them early. This will help prevent tooth decay (oh imagine all the chocolates they will be eating).
I just have to note that you have to consult first with your pedia on the brand and amount of toothpaste that you are going to give. Remember, babies tend to swallow what you put in their mouth so we have to be careful =)
