Your baby is 41 weeks old today and your anxiety over your baby’s health, safety and development has not dissipated much from your pregnancy until now.  Honestly, moms and dads, the worrying never ends, but you do learn to function in spite of it!

Now let’s talk about nutrition. Whether you are breastfeeding or giving your baby formula, you want to feed your baby with nutritious solid foods  You may consider giving vitamin drops with the food to ensure that your baby is getting enough vitamins and minerals.  This is something you should discuss with your pediatrician.

Your baby probably started the solid foods adventure by eating baby rice cereal, since this is the most common starter foods as rice is easily digested and rarely an allergen.  If you are not already using one as a reference or guide, there are tons of recipe  books that you can browse if you want to prepare your own baby food.  Now, at 10 months, your baby has graduated to a large variety of food, textures and consistency.  According to Ruth Yaron, author of Super Baby Food, at this age your baby should eat 4-5 servings of fruits and veggies per day and each serving should equal 3-4 tablespoons of food.  Second, your little one should also have 4 serving of grains per day and 2-3 servings of protein foods per day.  Third, your baby should eat 1 serving of dairy per day such as half a cup of yogurt or 1 ounce of natural cheese.  Last, breastfeeding thrice a day or 24-32 ounces of formula and 2-4 ounces of water should be sufficient.  Please remember, the foods you choose to feed your baby varies greatly on the country and culture you live in.
