Mothers who take their babies to the workplace could worry no longer about finding a private and comfortable place for breast-feeding their infants as long as their place of work is at the Quezon City Hall.

The city government has opened a station to allow the opening of breast-feeding stations at the city hall in celebration of Women’s Month. The effort is in line with an ordinance which adopts the Breastfeeding Act of 1992.

Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte and Mayor Herbert Bautista launched the station which is located near the legislative wing at the ground floor.

Bautista claims that the effort is similarly part of the campaign of the city to promote breast-feeding amongst mothers.

Health Usec. Teodoro Herbosa praised the initiative of the government to support breast-feeding laws. The station could accommodate as much as ten nursing mothers and is open from 8 am to 5 pm.

According to the World Health Organization, babies need to be breast-fed for the first six months.
