Classical Music and Pregnancy: Bonding with Your Unborn Child

0

Classical music is soothing and relaxing and this is something that the baby will definitely appreciate. Any super mom surely must have known about the fact that classical music greatly helps in the development of the baby in the womb.

Studies conducted by Dr. Frances Rauscher, Dr. Gordon Shaw and Katherine Ky showed the Mozart Effect wherein the minds of children and even adults have been stimulated greatly by classical music and have helped them in various activities and increased brain development.

Following this, a lot of studies made regarding pregnancy stages noted that during the latter part of the second trimester or towards the seventh month of pregnancy, the fetus is starting to develop the ability to hear sounds. Along with this, the baby is also able to learn and keep into memory what they hear.

This is a big opportunity for the mother, as well as the father, to bond with their unborn child. The ability of the baby to hear and feel what is in the environment can be a way for baby to recognize the parents and discern the importance of their relationship even when the baby is still the womb.

The pregnant woman can find an hour or two every day to just relax at home and listen to classical music. This can be her bonding time with the baby – just the two of them, both relaxed and soothed by the orchestrated notes of the musical masters. Classical music somehow helps the whole body fall into a state of relaxation and deep concentration that will help the pregnant woman de-stress and just think about the baby and feel more uplifted than before.

However, most of the experts in the field of pregnancy say that while classical music may have some significant effects in the brain development of the fetus, it is still important to consider touch and speech as a part of the whole bonding session. It would be good to always make it a point to touch the belly of the mother and talk to the baby as much as possible. Tell the baby stories about your day, your love story, how your family is excited about the baby, and all the happy things that happened to you and your partner. This way, the baby will feel a sense of positive parenting even while in the womb. Not only will your baby have better growth through the genius of the classical music masters but your baby will also have a sense of love and care from the parents.

Bonding with your child can greatly help you establish a long lasting relationship with your baby. Start by listening to classical music to help you settle down and boost the brain development of your baby. Couple that with loving words and a tale of your past and plans for the future of your baby and surely you will establish a good relationship with your child.
