“Motherhood is easy,” said no mother ever. It is vocation that completely transforms your life. It not only keeps you very busy, it also drastically changes the way think, feel, and act. And even if the job itself is a lot of work, there are amazing women who go beyond their roles in the home to advocate for causes close to their hearts. All in the hopes of making the world a better place for their children.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie is an award winning American actress and filmmaker, famous for roles in movies such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Mr. & Mrs. Smith. But the best part is that she is as cool in real life as she is on screen. Beyond her Hollywood accomplishments, she is making waves for her humanitarian efforts as passionate advocate for causes in education and women’s rights. As a woman who believes that motherhood goes beyond borders, she works closely with the UN to protect the refugees and has adopted Maddox from Cambodia, Pax from Vietnam, and Zahara from Ethopia.

Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama is best known as the first lady of United States of America. She is the strength and support behind Barack Obama’s challenging position as the President of the most powerful country in the world. But not one to stay in the sidelines, she has also led initiatives in education and health to encourage and empower women to overcome obstacles and strive for success. She is an amazing example of tenacity in reaching one’s goals in life.

Dr. Cyndi Romine (Called To Rescue)

Dr. Cyndi Romine is the founder and president of Called to Rescue, is a non-profit worldwide organization on a mission to rescue minor children from sex trafficking, violence and abuse.. Through her work, she has become a mother to numerous children across the globe. She is brave, and risks numerous dangers by promoting her organization and encouraging others to participate in the protection of children.

Christy Burns (Every Mother Counts)

Christy Nicole Burns is most famous for being a supermodel, but has grown her fanbase as an active advocate for Maternal Health. Aside for partnering with several humanitarian organizations, she has also founded Every Mother Counts (EMC) a non-profit organization that promotes safe pregnancy and childbirth to every mother, especially those areas that seem deprived of access to medical health.

Sushmita Sen

Sushmita Sen was the first Ms. Universe from India to win the pageant. The title opened numerous doors for her, giving her the voice and position to challenge norms in a country where being a woman means less options, less opportunities. She gained recognition not just for her beauty but also for determination to adopt children as a single mother. She admirably won her battles in court and was able adopted 2 beautiful girls.

Truly, a mother’s heart are large enough to hold not just their children, but also the causes that move them.
