(Grades 7 – 10)

Course Description

Learn fundamental programming skills using an exciting application known as App Inventor 2, a web application maintained by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). With no coding experience required, kids will create applications, or “apps,” for Android smartphones and tablets through purely hands-on activities using a Screen Designer and a Blocks Editor.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, kids would be able to:

Apply Design Thinking to create real-world projects
Use Procedural Block-based Programming to code Android Apps
Execute scripts to perform media, mathematical and logical operations

Course Agenda

Day 1: Working with Text, Images and Sounds
Day 2: Using Input Styles, Variables and Calculations
Day 3: Using Decision Blocks and Boolean Logic
Day 4: Using Repetition Blocks, Times and Dates
