Isabelle Daza-Semblat recently published a very unusual video that touched the hearts of most mothers. It wasn’t a typical video of a mother’s great love and sacrifices for her children. This time, it was about her – the mother.

Isabelle shared how she struggled with her post-partum weight and successfully got rid of it and regain her confidence. The video was so raw and frank. There was not a bit of sugar coating in it. The video showed how emotionally and physically challenging motherhood was for her.

In the start of her video, Isabelle can be seen doing cardio exercises even during her 36th week of pregnancy. By her 38th week, she was at her heaviest weight of 205 lbs. It was also during this time that doctors discovered that her baby has cord coil so cesarean section had to be done despite her initial plan of doing a natural birth.

About three weeks post-partum at 175 lbs, the video showed Isabelle looking at herself in the mirror saying, “I’m so effing huge. I can’t even stand seeing myself.” She frankly confessed that she is obsessed with her weight that she weighs herself every day.

She shared how a lot of people were asking her about post-partum depression. As for Isabelle, she had no time to think about being sad. But on this part of the video, Isabelle let her guard down and broke down.

She confessed that she thinks she might just be hiding it from herself, but she really has an issue with weight. The cesarean section made the recovery harder and seeing the scar always made her sad. She shared that she was at the stage of her life that she is very insecure about her body that she doesn’t want to go out of the house and see other people.

In the industry where she works, Isabelle knows that there is a lot of pressure to look good and being surrounded by good looking, stick-thin friends adds to the pressure. Isabelle confessed how overwhelmed she was with the baby, breastfeeding, producing enough milk, catching up on sleep, working out, and transitioning to work.

Isabelle then decided to lose weight to regain her confidence. She started to work out regularly. She did cardio exercises, weight lifting, and calisthenics. She also explored other sports like swimming, running, yoga, and spin class. She also had to alter her diet.

We know that losing weight is never easy, especially while taking care of a newborn. It was also not an easy journey for Isabelle but through discipline, she achieved her goal. She now weighs even less than her pre-pregnancy weight.

According to Isabelle, it’s all about the work you’re willing to put in to achieve your goal. She shares that it’s all about consistency, hard work, and determination. In her final note, Isabelle reminded everyone that you have to be consistent and patient, and you have to work hard and be able to make sacrifices.

The video revealed a low point of Isabelle’s life but she still decided to share it with the public. The intention to inspire fellow mothers struggling with body issues is just so genuine. Indeed, a lot of advocacy campaign promotes love for one’s self, but it cannot be denied that post-partum weight is one maternal issue that is not commonly talked about.
