Pregnancy brings in a lot of changes in the mom’s body that affect her daily activities. Her nesting instincts may go on overdrive to ensure a healthy environment for the baby after giving birth. But there are some chores that pregnant woman should avoid during pregnancy.

As the due date approaches pregnant women find themselves obsessing over the nursery. They also feel the need to clean every corner and clear every clutter around the house. This is one of the side effects of pregnancy. Apart from worrying for the birth of their child, pregnancy can turn your nesting instincts up a notch. While it’s okay to organize your nursery, it’s important for moms to look after themselves. There are chores that you can do but there are some that you have to avoid. Apart from the health of your child, you should also watch out for your own. After all, you are the one who’s giving birth to the baby.

Here are some chores that you have to avoid during pregnancy:

•    You should avoid moving heavy furniture. The weight of your baby puts a lot of strain on your lower back during pregnancy. Pregnancy shifts the center of your gravity forward. Moving furniture around will just put more strain on your lower back and increase the risk of back injury.

•    Do not change the cat’s litter box. Although cat poop looks harmless, it can give you a parasitic infection. Infected cat poop causes toxoplasmosis. You and your baby are connected during pregnancy, so your infection will also affect your baby. It causes symptoms that are similar to flu on adults but have serious affects on the baby. It can cause brain and eye defects if it’s acquired during the early stages of pregnancy.

•    Hold off refinishing the furniture. Chemical solvents and fumes pose a safety concern for a mom’s pregnancy. Although it is not proven yet if they have serious affects on the fetus exposure to high concentrations of these chemicals can cause problems.

Pregnancy is a delicate process. Pregnant moms should always take note that a baby’s health also depends on them. So it’s important that mom’s should be healthy too. Pregnancy is the perfect excuse for moms to take it easy and sit back. They have all the excuse to watch their loved ones do the work around the house.
