12 Days To Christmas Calendar

Here is a wonderful way to get ready for the special day. For the 12 days prior to Christmas you can give a token treat and a Christmas message. The gift is a real token. Nothing big or extravagant but something small to make you smile. You can find tons of small items that suit this occasion at the stationary and gift shops. Wrapped with paper and a bow each gift is tacked up under the tree with a date. On each of the 12 days before Christmas your child can open one gift and read the scroll that is on the present. The gift is only a token gift like a little trinket. Small stationary items work well also.

It isn’t the gift but the message that should be emphasized. Here are a few great quotes.

Christmas, children, is not a date. It is a state of mind. ~Mary Ellen Chase

I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. ~Charles Dickens

Christmas is the season for kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart. ~Washington Irving

Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love! ~Hamilton Wright Mabie

If you start on the 14th, the last day present on the tree will be Christmas day. You can start on the 13th so that the last scroll would be read on Christmas Eve.

What you need:
Foam core board
Craft felt
Construction paper
Stick pins
Token presents
Wrapping and ribbons

What to do:
– Decorate the foam core with a Christmas tree made from the felt.
– This is glued on and decorated as you like.
– Wrap 12 small token gifts Ribbons on each help to secure the present to the foam core.
– Write 12 short Christmas messages on small pieces of paper and roll them up or fold them like a card.
– Tack the presents under the tree each with a date written next to it.
– Now tack the scroll next to the present.
