How to Deal with the Allergies of your Baby

Babies are also susceptible to allergies like adults. A baby’s immune system is not yet developed so it will be easier for him to get one. There are many baby products out there, but there are some practical ways to deal with it.

Dust mites, molds and animal dander are the most common source of baby allergy. They are very common around the house, so babies are most likely exposed to them. The best way is still prevention, so you have to deal with these allergens to get rid of its effects. Dust mites can be found in fabrics, such as carpets, mattresses and pillows. Molds can be found in wet damp places such as basements and bathrooms. Animal dander is specks of animal skin and hair.

Dust mites

Wrap your baby’s mattress with a tightly woven fabric. You can buy them at any allergy store. They provide a breathable barrier that’s not crinkly. Wash bed sheets in hot water at about 54 degrees Celsius (130 degrees Fahrenheit). Do not pile up stuffed toys in your baby’s room. Invest on a HEPA vacuum cleaner and use it every other week. If your baby’s allergy is really worse, consider replacing carpets with hardwood floors. Have your filters and heating ducts cleaned when they are not used.

Molds

A dehumidifier and/or air conditioner will do the trick. Use it when the weather is moist and warm particularly in places where molds can grow such as a wet basement. You can use disinfectant for your bathroom. Water and a little bleach can also help or go natural with water and tea tree oil. They are also present in other wet, damp areas such as the refrigerator, attic, shower stall, closet and cellar.

Animal dander

Your baby can get allergy from a pet. Make sure to wash your pet with a dander reducing shampoo. Grooming them will also control shedding around the house. You can also prevent them from going into the baby’s room. In other cases you should also watch out for other furry animals that may hide in your shed.

This tips will reduce you’re the exposure of your baby to allergens. You can’t really get rid of them 100 percent but these are just enough to prevent your baby from getting an allergy. Once your little tyke gets immune to these things you will never have a problem.
