Musical Art Plates

This is one of the favorites of many children because the creativity level is high and you can play with it later. Many projects you do will give a child an item to place on the shelf. This one is not one of those. You can dance and play along with your favorite songs whether it’s Barney, High Five or Hannah Montana.

What you need:
• Two paper plates (small ones work best)
• Pop corn, dried beans or small beads
• Staedtler markers, paints or color pencils
• Staples
• Varnish (optional)
• Tape (optional)

What to do:
1. Paint up the backs of the two plates.
2. Facing both plates out so that the colored side is showing put in a handful of your dried items or beads.
3. Staple the plates together on the edges so that the dried items cannot fall out.

Optional steps:
• You can spray a coat of varnish on the plates if you want them to last longer or if you have used oil pastels since they will get on your fingers otherwise.
• You can also run a few strips of tape along the edges to make sure the dried items just don’t come out.
