To Painless or To NSD- that is the Pregnancy Question

One of the dilemmas of pregnancy is to decide whether to go painless or stick to the traditional normal spontaneous delivery (NSD). Get the pros and cons of both methods then decide from there what will work best for you.

Although giving birth is a very painful process, there are still a lot of women out there who prefernatural birth over painless method because they believe that giving birth the natural way, in which you’ll experience all the pain is the epitome of motherhood. There are also moms who utilize the benefits of modern medicine and go for quick and painless procedure.

Below are some details on painless and NDS to help you decide on what method to use on your pregnancy:

Painless Pregnancy Delivery Methods

•    Caesarean Surgery: Probably the most common pregnancy delivery method used. This is done by cutting the front part of the abdomen and is normally done when the mother is suffering from high blood pressure, HIV infection, and diabetes, among other diseases or circumstances that make it too risky to deliver on a natural way.

•    Vacuum Delivery: This type of pregnancy delivery involves a metal or plastic cup used to guide the baby’s head out of the vagina. The cup is connected to a tube that generates vacuum and helps in suction. However, it may cause more damage and tear to the mother as well as serious injury to the baby.

•    Acupressure Technique: A safe painless pregnancy method that has no side effects. The eight acupressure points in the body are pressed during labor, which helps in reliving the pain of giving birth.

Normal Spontaneous Delivery (NSD)

As the name implies, NSD pregnancy delivery method occurs when a pregnant woman goes into labor without the help of any drugs or techniques to induce labor, and delivers the baby in the normal manner without the vacuum extraction, ceasarean section or forceps.

If you want to experience everything about pregnancy and motherhood and also want to do things the natural way, opt for NSD. However, if you have low or no tolerance for pain at all, painless pregnancy method is your best option. Regardless of what method you choose, the most important thing is for you and the baby to be safe all throughout the delivery process.
