The words toddler and discipline does not always fit well in one sentence. Sadly, for most parents, this is also the case in real life. This is why there are quite a number of parents who give up and give in to the whines of their toddler. Little did they know that the key to ensuing discipline on a toddler is by disciplining them in a certain way.

It is very important to implement discipline on a toddler’s playtime, sleeping habits and eating habits. This is because these three are very detrimental when it comes to a child’s development. Also, the way parents discipline their toddler in these three areas determine their overall toddler behavior. Here are some tips to help parents control their kids’ behavior while making sure that they do not lose their love.

Regarding toddler’s playtime, parents should make sure that they set boundaries. They should make sure that toddlers only play during a certain time of the day. They should also make sure that the schedule is being followed no matter what the occasion is. When a toddler is allowed to play for a longer period of time when parents are on the phone, they will realize that the rules can actually be bent once in a while.

Establishing healthy sleeping patterns can be extremely difficulty especially when a toddler is hyperactive. However, the best way to go about this matter is by being strict. Parents should make sure that they put their toddler to bed once the clock strikes 8:00 p.m. They should also explain the importance of having enough sleep so that a toddler can have an idea as to how important good sleeping habits are.

Teaching a toddler how to eat properly is very essential to his or her development. Getting the right nutrients during a toddler age is very crucial since this is the time wherein their bodies start to bank on essential nutrients such as calcium. This is why parents should exert extra effort into making sure that their toddlers get all the nutrients they need.

Parents can do so by introducing nicer tasting vegetables. Also, since toddlers are beginning to mimic older people’s actions, parents should set an example of healthy eating. They should also explain the importance of having enough nutrients in a way that they can relate. For example, try explaining that by drinking milk, they get calcium that will help them develop strong bones. And when they have strong bones, they can be as strong as their favorite athlete or hero.

Although there are lots of tips out there that is all about toddler development and discipline, parents should also remember that discipline should always be balanced by love.
