Not a Morning Person? Here’s How to Make it Your Favorite Time of the Day

Because if mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!

1. Prepare the night before. Do everything you need to do to ensure you that your morning will run smoothly. Write down your to-do list for the next day, choose your outfit (even if it just a pair of leggings and a sports shirt) and prepare breakfast. This will help you to sleep soundly because you know you are ready to take on the next day.

2. Get up before your kids. Give yourself that extra time and space to physically, mentally, emotionally and even spiritually prepare for your day. Motherhood is hard and you need to be ready for battle.

3. Meditate. The benefits of even a few minutes of meditation are astounding. By giving yourself a few moments of quiet time each day, you will gain clarity, mental alertness, self-awareness and even feel more balanced emotional.

4. Journal. Journalling is a wonderful way to chronicle your journey of motherhood. It has also been found to spark creativity and increase self-confidence.

5. Exercise. There’s nothing like a good dose of endorphins to boost your mood. Do some yoga on a mat in an empty room or go for a jog once all of your children are at school.

6. Eat breakfast. Sometimes, us moms are so good at taking care of others that we often forget to take care of ourselves.

We know you’re probably thinking, where on earth would I find the time (or the energy!) to do all this? We believe that where there is a will, there is a way…and if you start to see each of these activities as ways for you to be a happier and healthier mom, then it will definitely be easier for you to prioritize them. Think of each task as a way to take better care of yourself, so that you can better take care of your family.
