Stronger Neck And More Communication
Your baby is 8 weeks old today and she is developing quickly. If you have been taking weekly pictures of your baby, it’s amazing how different she looks from birth to now. I remember taking an unbelievable amount of pictures of my daughter when she was born, like most first time parents do. And when I finally got around to organizing them all (a year later) in an album, there were tons!!
Also developing so are her gross motor and communication skills. At this time, your baby is a little wiggle worm – moving her arms and legs every moment she is awake. When she is having floor time, you’ll notice that when you pick her up, her neck has become much stronger and she is able to support it with just a slight lag. In just a few weeks it’s like she is a totally different baby!
Besides your baby making the “ah, “ “eh” and “uh” sounds she is starting to coo and chuckle — and you thought your baby could not get any cuter, right? Well, get your video cameras ready as there is nothing like hearing your baby chuckle for the first time. Sometimes it happens when one parent is not present and you catch yourself thinking ‘wait, was that really a laugh? Do it again!’ I remember when my daughter chuckled/laughed for the first time, my husband was on a business trip and I tried so hard to get her to do it again when I had the video camera in hand. And of course, with just my luck, she never laughed when I had the video camera ready! But there is plenty of time to catch these exciting moments and I can tell you from experience, you never stop feeling excited about it. In the upcoming weeks, you will continue to see significant developments in your baby.
