Pregnancy brings about a lot of changes in your body and another human being is depending on your body’s strength and nutrition to grow and develop. Hence, it’s important to take good care of your body and avoid stressing it too much.
During pregnancy, there are certain household chores that you must avoid doing for the meantime in order to ensure your safety and the baby’s. This does not only apply to physical activities that involve lifting and force, but to other chores as well that may pose danger on your pregnancy.
Back to back
This is the most basic thing that you need to watch on your pregnancy. This may not seem to be a problem at first, but when you reach the fourth month of your pregnancy, your center of gravity changes and some of the lifting and carrying becomes harder to do if you fail to use proper back mechanics.
Pregnancy makes your sense of smell more sensitive and harsh chemicals may have damaging effect on your baby. So it’s best to avoid these and try some DIY home remedies such as baking soda, vinegar, and lemons. Once you get used to these, it will not only protect your pregnancy but also useful after pregnancy, once the baby is born.
If you really can’t avoid using certain cleaning products, just make sure that you utilize protective gears such as thick gloves and facial mask to protect you from the chemicals’ harmful effects.
Avoid the Heights
Although you may want to make sure that every corner of your house is clean, pregnancy makes your movement limited. Avoid elevated surfaces or standing on top of a table or chair, since it increases chances of getting in an accident.
It’s actually advisable to move your body frequently during pregnancy and doing household chores is the best exercise you can actually perform. Just be mindful of your actions and know your limitations. Assess your body as your pregnancy progresses and you’ll be able to know what chores you are still capable of doing and those that you must avoid.
