For a mommy blogger and a know-it-all person like me, I usually take advantage of celebrations (especially Mother’s Day) to take some credit for my efforts.
I want this year to be different. I want to give the credit to my husband.
3 years of motherhood already feels like a lifetime of change and I can only wish for more years to come.
Of course there were times when I question if I really can keep up with everything; Why do I often forget of things that I should always remember; Why I never thought of things the way a mother should.
There are down days but there are more important days. Days when both your son and your husband wake you up with a morning kiss and hug. Days when your son utter a new word and wittily mimics your accent and pronunciation – then you and your husband stare happy glances at each other. Days when you get an encouraging and affirming talk with your husband.
I admit I am not perfect and there are a lot of things I need to learn. There’ll be more challenges that will come my way than I could ever imagine but I am ready. I say bring it on. I have a husband, a partner through thick and thin.
When I lose focus and float to an alternate reality, he brings me back to where I should be. He compliments my haircut and willingly waits for me whenever I get my nails done. He unfailingly sounds assuring when I ask him if I look pretty. He makes sure we have our weekly date and that we both enjoy it. He loves cooking and is a better cook than I am. So that is already one major task he voluntarily agrees to perform.
Simply put, he’s my better half. The person who compliments my strengths and fills in my personal discrepancies.
Thank you for making me good at being a mother and making me one. Not that you’re entirely accountable for making me a mother but for making this family with me.
You are forever my man and my heart is yours until the end of time.
