Paper Beads

You can use these beads for bracelets and necklaces as well as key chains and hand phone holders. Book markers are easy with a few fun beads and a string or glue them directly on a piece of paper to decorate a card. There are so many fun things to do once you get started.

What you need:
Coloured paper
Skewer or tooth pick
Glue
Glitter
Decorative pens (Gel pens work very nicely)

What to do:

  1. Cut the paper into triangles or strips.
  2. Roll each strip on the skewer from the widest part in.
  3. As you roll it put glue on the last ½ of the strip. Very little glue is needed and a glue stick may work better then white glue for little hands. If you are using white glue, use a small paint brush to apply it.
  4. Roll the paper to the end and pull out the skewer. Try to glue several colours together as you roll and see what kind of beads you can make. *
  5. Allow a little drying time.
  6. You can add the glitter to the outside and colour with pens.
  7. String them together as you wish.
  8. After getting the hang of it try with different types of papers like wrapping paper, foil and decorative paper. You could also use paper that you have painted on for colourful accents. This would be a great way to recycle.

*This is great for kids to work on finger dexterity, concentration and colour combinations.
