When getting ready to complete an activity give him a verbal warning that his time with this activity is about to come to an end. Begin with verbally saying that he has 5mins left to play with the cars, then 3mins, and finally 1min. This helps prepare him cognitively and emotionally for the transition of ending one activity and beginning another.
